Former prisoner Šarenda-Panasiuk accused of calling for sanctions

April 29, Pozirk. Belarusian authorities charged exiled opposition activist Palina Šarenda-Panasiuk with calling for sanctions and violating preventive supervision after her release from prison, her husband Andrej Šarenda said on Facebook.
Police interrogated her Belarus-based family members, he added.
Šarenda-Panasiuk fled Belarus in February after spending more than four years behind bars. In 2021, a Brest judge sentenced her to two years in prison for violence against a police officer and insulting Alaksandar Łukašenka and officials.
Later, the activist was found guilty of disobeying prison authorities and had her prison term extended three times. Rights groups considered her a political prisoner. She served her sentence in full.
