Belarus deports Sri Lanka’s murder suspect

May 4, Pozirk. Belarusian authorities have deported Sujeewa Ruwankumara from Interpol’s wanted list, suspected of involvement in a shooting in Sri Lanka’s Athurugiriya on July 8, 2024, the interior ministry’s press office reported.

Sri Lanka’s police confirmed this information later. Ruwankumara, a notorious drug trafficker known as Loku Patty, was reportedly arrested in Belarus last summer. He was brought to Sri Lanka this morning by plane via Dubai, adaderana.lk said. 

Ruwankumara is accused of involvement in several murders as well as possession of drugs and firearms, said Buddhika Manatunga, a Sri Lankan police official.
