Government to spend $4.3 billion for road construction until 2029
May 7, Pozirk. The government plans to spend 13 billion rubels (about $4.3 billion) to construct and repair more than 24,500 kilometers of roads across Belarus by 2029, Prime Minister Alaksandar Turčyn has told MPs while presenting its five-year plan to the lower house.
The move would allow securing high-speed connections between smaller towns and regional centers, the government’s press office reports. Travel time between Minsk and its satellite cities will be reduced to 30 minutes and between district towns and regional centers to one and a half hour, he said.
Authorities also earmarked 20 billion rubels to build and renovate more than 650 infrastructure facilities, including 34 hospitals, 23 kindergartens, 27 schools and 22 gyms, Turčyn noted.
