Kibierpartyzany accuse missing opposition politician Mielnikava of theft

May 12, Pozirk. Anžalika Mielnikava, the Belarusian opposition politician who went missing about two months ago, has misappropriated a total of $150,000 in Białoruś Liberty foundation funds, which she managed, said her associates after regaining control of the bank account.
In February, Mielnikava transferred up to $2,500 every few days from the organization’s account. She has also misappropriated about $107,000 in a grant provided for the opposition Coordinating Council. Her last transaction involving Białoruś Liberty funds is dated March 25. That day she stopped contacting her associates.
“We don’t know the motives that prompted Mielnikava to misappropriate other people’s funds and go into hiding after many months of her competent work with good reputation. She might have been blackmailed, or it was her own decision. Anyway, we have reported the theft to Polish law enforcement agencies,” said the Kibierpartyzany group that worked together with Mielnikava.
Meanwhile, The Insider and Polityka reported two days before that Mielnikava, speaker of the Coordination Council, travelled to Dubai from Sri Lanka on March 7 together with her daughters, who may be now staying in Belarus together with their father.
She left Warsaw for London on February 26, from where she boarded a flight to Sri Lanka.
She was reported to arrive in Sri Lanka on February 28 and stayed there at a five-star resort for a week.
On April 7, ex-husband Andrej Mielnikaŭ told zerkalo.io that her daughters were with him in Belarus. The man said he did not know his ex-wife’s whereabouts, noting that they have not been in touch for a long time.
