Belarusian universities to introduce drone design major

July 11, Pozirk. Belarusian universities will offer majors in drone design and technology as well as chemical engineering of high-energy materials, says the education ministry’s Directive No 95 which has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
The document was approved more than one month ago.
Full-time programs in both majors will require at least five years of studies along with a master’s thesis.
Education Minister Andrej Ivaniec announced enrollment for both programs on July 1 in Mahiloŭ at a joint meeting of the boards of Belarus’ and Russia’s education ministries. The training of drone operators and chemists will help ensure defense capabilities of Belarus, he said, noting that graduates could also be employed “in the relevant sectors” of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
Russia’s Kazan Federal University will act as a partner institution for the programs, he noted.
Earlier this year, Alaksandar Łukašenka accepted Russia’s offer to build a drone factory in Belarus with a capacity of up to 100,000 units per year.
Last October, defense officials and university rectors discussed establishing a department at Belarusian Military Academy to train drone operators.
