Over 300 airspace violations recorded since January – official

August 16, Pozirk. The defense ministry has recorded more than 300 violations of Belarusian airspace since the start of 2025, Andrej Łukjanovič, the Belarusian Air/Air Defense commander, has told journalists.
Most of the incidents featured unmanned aerial vehicles that violated the Belarusian border with Ukraine, he noted, without specifying the origin of the drones.
Belarusian authorities also documented “a large number of flights by UAVs, reconnaissance and tactical aircraft at Belarus’ western borders,” Łukjanovič added.
Drone incursions into Belarus have been regularly reported since mid-2024 as Russians attack Ukraine. In late July, a UAV reportedly struck a residential building in Minsk, landed on a parked vehicle and exploded. The defense ministry and investigators later said that the drone was carrying TNT and steel balls.
In a rare instance earlier this year, Deputy Interior Minister Mikałaj Karpiankoŭ acknowledged frequent sightings of combat drones and admitted that Belarusian air defenses struggle to counter this type of UAVs.
