Finance ministry issues yuan-denominated bonds

August 25, BPN. The Belarusian Ministry of Finance held an auction on August 24 to sell government bonds denominated in Chinese yuan.

Companies submitted six requests for bonds worth 184.7 million yuan at an annual rate of 3.49 percent, its press office reported. Authorities approved requests for 181 million yuan (about $24.8 milliion).

The remaining bonds worth 19 million yuan out of the authorized 200 million will be placed at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on August 30 and sold without auction.

The BCSE started trading in Chinese yuan in March 2022 amid Western sanctions imposed over Belarusian authorities’ support of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
