Servicemen to train in counter-sabotage, drone defense in western Belarus

February 3, Pozirk. Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin has ordered the 6th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade based in Hrodna to prepare for a combat readiness check as part of the ongoing large-scale drill that is expected to last until spring.

Servicemen will practice preparing weapons, military and special equipment for deployment to new areas for combat training, the defense ministry’s press office reports.

The training will feature troops movements, security and camouflage drills, a mock pursuit of a sabotage and reconnaissance groups, drone operation and jamming countermeasures, it added.

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.
