Łukašenka expected to meet with Putin in Turkmenistan this week

October 7, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed during a telephone conversation on Wednesday to have a meeting in Turkmenistan later this week, according to the Belarusian ruler’s press office.
The two leaders discussed the “most pressing issues on the agenda” and agreed to continue discussing “certain issues concerning bilateral cooperation and the international situation” on the sidelines of the forthcoming summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the press office said.
Earlier on Wednesday, the press office published Łukašenka’s birthday message for Putin, describing him as an “example of responsible and selfless service to the fatherland.”
Łukašenka is expected to stay in Turkmenistan on October 8 and 9 to participate in the summit, which will take place in a resort district near the city of Türkmenbaşy.
Łukašenka and Putin are known to have met three times this year. Their most recent meeting took place during the Belarusian ruler’s visit to Russia between August 27 and August 29. On June 26 and 27, they met in Putin’s residence of Valdai in the Novgorod province. On May 9, Łukašenka had a meeting with Putin after attending a Victory Day parade in Moscow.
