Belarusian Sports Solidarity Foundation calls for transfer of international sports events from Belarus and Russia

February 23, BPN. Belarusian Sports Solidarity Foundation (BSSF) “sees no possibility for the aggressor states to hold international sporting events or to be represented in the international sports by their officials.”

The foundation’s statement says that Russian president Vladimir Putin “raised the level of escalation to the real risk of imminent war, involving Belarus, among others, in aggressive actions.”

The BSSF called on all international sports organizations to relocate from Belarus and Russia any sports events that “are already allowed to take place in these countries,” as well as to “limit the participation of all Russian and Belarusian officials in international sports events.”

The foundation believes that these sanctions should remain in place until Minsk and Moscow stop “flagrantly violating the principles of international law recognized by civilized nations, because there is no place in international sports for those who destroy the basic principle of the Olympics – to build and promote a friendly and better world.”
