Lukašenka convenes a meeting with the military

February 24, BPN. Aliaksandr Lukašenka “promptly convened a meeting with the military,” according to Pul Pervogo, a Telegram channel close to his press service.

In the early morning of February 24, Vladimir Putin announced the start of a “military operation” in Ukraine after the appeal of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics with a request to “provide assistance in repelling Kyiv’s aggression.” He stated that the Russian Federation was striving for the “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.

Shortly after the outbreak of hostilities, according to Russian media reports, “Putin informed [Aliaksandr] Lukašenka about the situation on the border with Ukraine and in Donbas.”

There were reports of explosions from various cities in Ukraine, including Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed martial law throughout the country.
