March 2, BPN. A young man with an anti-war poster was detained near the Russian Embassy in Minsk in the morning of March 2, Viasna Human Rights Center reports.

The name of the detainee and the details of the incident are being clarified.

According to human rights defenders, on February 28 and March 1, Belarusian courts heard more than 267 administrative cases against citizens who had been detained at rallies against the constitutional referendum and the war in Ukraine. 230 people were sentenced to administrative arrests and 14 fines were imposed.

Human rights defenders report that judges hear cases in seven minutes and sometimes work until 9 pm.

Viasna Human Rights Center knows the names of 831 people detained on February 27 and 28 in various cities of Belarus near polling stations after the constitutional referendum and at street rallies protesting against the war with Ukraine.

According to human rights defenders, people continue to be held in inhumane conditions in the detention centers. They know that some people were beaten after their detention and were not fed in the temporary detention facility and in the Offenders’ Detention Center in Akrescina Street in Minsk.
