BAJ supports Ukrainian colleagues and asks not to identify actions of official Minsk with position of Belarusians
March 4, BPN. The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) issued a statement in support of Ukrainian colleagues, urging its members to show maximum solidarity with the Ukrainian media.
The BAJ “expresses solidarity with all journalists who continue to fulfill their professional duty during the war unleashed by the Kremlin.”
“We admire the work of our Ukrainian colleagues who continue to perform their professional duties while risking their lives under the aggressor’s shelling,” the statement reads. “We are proud of our Belarusian friends who stayed in Ukraine to tell Belarusians and the world the truth about the Russian aggressors’ crimes.”
The BAJ assured that Ukrainian journalists can rely on the help of their Belarusian colleagues, and asked not to identify the actions of the official Minsk with the position of the Belarusian people.
“Even under the threat of persecution, Belarusians support Ukraine. They report the truth about the war in their media, go to peaceful rallies and go to jail for it, they collect humanitarian aid and help Ukrainians in evacuation,” the statement stressed.
