Naš Dom activist Julija Haračka released after being convicted
March 16, BPN. Julija Haračka, an activist of the Naš Dom campaign and a political prisoner, has been released in the courtroom after being convicted. She has completed her sentence while in custody, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
According to human rights defenders, a district judge in Minsk found Haračka guilty of training people to participate in group actions that grossly violate public order, as well as of financing such actions. Judge Siarhiej Šacila of the Saviecki District Court sentenced her to one year in prison.
Haračka pleaded guilty during the preliminary investigation and in court. She also pledged “to assist in the investigation of the crime” and “identify other accomplices.”
A day in a detention center counts as a day and a half of imprisonment. Haračka was arrested on July 14, 2021 and has fully served her sentence.
The judge ordered the confiscation of her cell phone, tablet, scanner and two laptops.
According to the case file, Haračka helped at least 178 convicts and those detained during the protests to pay more than 141,000 rubels in fines and attorneys’ fees.
Media manager Andrej Aliaksandraŭ, who has been in custody since January 12, 2021, was also accused of paying fines for protesters.
