Cichanoŭskaja’s office sets up working group on business
June 22, BPN. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja’s office is setting up a working group on business, the Belarusian democratic leader said in a YouTube address on June 22.
Cichanoŭskaja asked for advice about what issues the group should be solving, and who should join it.
“I understand that Belarusian entrepreneurs are in a minefield. Since the beginning of the war [in Ukraine], a Belarusian passport may the reason for banks to freeze accounts in different countries. At the same time, for many of you public statements or actions instantly affect workers and offices in Belarus. And silence about what is happening can be perceived by the West as support for the regime, entailing sanctions. I know the price of both your silence and your word,” Cichanoŭskaja said.
The working group already includes Cichanoŭskaja’s representative on legal matters, Śviatłana Babincava, who was appointed to this position on May 30. Babincava has over 20 years of experience in legal consulting for international and Belarusian companies.
