Human rights activists report new politically motivated verdicts

June 23, BPN. The Viasna Human Rights Center on June 22 reported new politically motivated court decisions.

An arrested Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) activist from Barysaŭ, Minsk region, was convicted twice in a row. On June 20, Hanna Skačok was fined 960 rubels (some $380) for a repost on Russian social network Vkontakte, then released. On June 21, she was fined the same amount for a repost on Facebook.

The Žłobin District Court in the Homiel region handed down a three-year sentence for Vital Bahamazaŭ, charged with grossly disturbing public order on the election day in 2020.

On June 21, a court in Homiel convicted local resident Kanstancin Dudaraŭ of libeling Alaksandr Łukašenka, sentencing him to a year in prison. The case was heard behind closed doors.
