Belarus leads in agricultural price growth in EAEU

October 31, BPN. Since the start of 2022, agricultural product prices rose by 0.9 percent in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with Belarus and Kazakhstan leading with 19.8 percent and 9.4 percent, respectively, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s statistical department reported.

Crop prices fell by 3.5 percent on the average across the EAEU, jumping in Belarus by 17.8 percent and Kazakhstan by 9.9 percent.

Increases in prices for buckwheat and rye (150 percent), rapeseed (43 percent), oats (39 percent), wheat (33 percent), and barley (27 percent) in Belarus exceeded the average price growth in the EAEU.

The EAEU prices of livestock grew by an average of 4.9 percent over the eight months of 2022, with Belarus leading with 20.4 percent, followed by Armenia with 12.5 percent, and Kazakhstan with 8.1 percent.

Belarus ranked last in agricultural production in the EAEU in the first nine months with a decrease of 4.6 percent year on year.
