Labor ministry official arrested over protests, opposition content
November 2, BPN. Hrodna police have arrested a labor ministry official, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
Aleh Sała, works as a chief compliance inspector at the ministry’s Hrodna department.
Pro-government Telegram channels posted a video of him admitting to voting for opposition presidential candidate Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja in the 2020 presidential election, subscribing to opposition media, and participating in protests.
On October 28, Minsk police arrested an education ministry employee for allegedly leaking the personal data of officials. Authorities accused him of inciting hatred.
Human rights defenders assumed that his name was Siarhiej Navumčyk and that he was suspected of passing personal data of judges to Chernaya Kniga Belarusi (Eng.: Black Book of Belarus), an online project exposing the identities of security officers who mistreated and brutalized peaceful protesters.
