Cichanoŭskaja says ready to visit Kyiv if invited
November 3, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has said she is ready to visit Kyiv if the Ukrainian authorities greenlight this.
“I am ready to come to Kyiv when the Kyiv side is ready to receive me,” she told Ukrainska Pravda in an interview, published on November 3.
Cichanoŭskaja said she was talking about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s administration.
“I am under the protection of the Lithuanian state. In order for me to be able to go to Kyiv, Lithuania should ensure safety, because I have diplomatic status here. Until there is an official invitation from the prime minister or the president, it simply cannot organize this visit. That is my situation. It’s not like I can travel whenever I want to,” she said.
The former presidential candidate added that there was no need for her personal meeting with Zelenskyy: “This can be a multilateral meeting, as part of a Polish, Lithuanian or Estonian delegation. I think our political allies would be happy to do that. But there should be an official request after all.”
