Veteran activist Bahinskaja’s land plot sold over unpaid fines
November 11, BPN. The land plot, confiscated from the prominent activist Nina Bahinskaja, 75, over unpaid fines, was sold at an auction, Belsat TV channel reported citing a source with the platform dealing with the sale of confiscated property.
Authorities sold her dacha in the Puchavičy district, Minsk region, for 727 rubels (about $295).
Back in 2016, they had sold another land plot that Bahinskaja owned, the activist told BPN on October 23.
“I sat back and laughed,” she said. “The plot is private property and I have the papers. I have children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They can get it back with these papers. The government will change, and the truth will be on their side.”
Bahinskaja has been active in the opposition movement since the 1980s. She has not been paying any fines as a matter of principle. She continues to stage one-woman protests in Minsk.
