Belarus criticizes Ukraine’s military for mining border areas
November 12, BPN. The Belarusian State Border Committee has accused Ukrainian soldiers of planting mines in the so-called “green border” areas, located between the checkpoints on the shared border.
The most recent incident took place on November 9, the Belarusian border authority noted.
A month ago, Anatol Łapo, chairman of the State Border Committee, complained to journalists that Ukraine destroyed almost all the road and railroad bridges on its side of the border and placed anti-tank mines in three rows on border roads.
Russian troops invaded Ukraine from Belarus on February 24, but retreated a few weeks later after suffering heavy losses. Ukraine has fortified its border since then, while Minsk has accused it of “provocations” and warned Kyiv against making any plans to invade Belarus.
