Transitional cabinet announces two new appointments
November 14, BPN. Arciom Praskałovič, a former official with Alaksandr Łukašenka’s administration, and Juryj Hubarevič, leader of the Movement for Freedom, joined the opposition’s transitional cabinet as deputies of Pavieł Łatuška, who is in charge of power transition.
Praskałovič will be working to hold the Łukašenka regime accountable for human rights abuses, while Hubarevič will be in charge of new Belarus’ human resources, the cabinet’s press office reported.
A lawyer by training, Praskałovič was a civil servant with a court, the justice ministry and Łukašenka’s administration before the 2020 presidential election. He resigned in August 2020 in protest against police violence.
Hubarevič stood at the origins of the Malady Front youth organization back in the 1990s. In 2003-2008, he headed the Brest regional chapter of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) and later served as BPF chair.
For the last two years both have been working at the Warsaw-based National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM) headed by Łatuška.
The transitional cabinet welcomed the appointment of “experienced professionals,” noting that it would strengthen the team that is working to bring about change in Belarus.
