Prison guards put Kaleśnikava in punishment cell
November 22, BPN. Prison authorities placed Maryja Kaleśnikava, 40, in a punitive cell in Homiel’s Colony No 4, the headquarters of former presidential hopeful Viktar Babaryka has said. It is unclear how long she will be held there.
Kaleśnikava’s lawyer tried to meet her on November 22, but the administration did not let him, claiming that the inmate had not filed a request for the meeting. But, according to the lawyer, Kaleśnikava requested new meetings every time they met.
Reports say that Kaleśnikava received three warnings: on November 9-10, supposedly for being in a wrong place during her work hours, and on November 11, for impolite behavior. The lawyer says no explanation was given to Kaleśnikava.
