Opposition’s cabinet slams intimidation of Movement for Freedom members
November 23, BPN. The opposition’s transition cabinet has condemned what it described as “the authorities’ groundless actions” towards former members of the Movement for Freedom.
They have recently been searched and interrogated by law enforcers in Belarus, reports said.
“After the appointment of [Movement for Freedom leader] Juraś Hubarevič as the Joint Transition Cabinet’s deputy representative for the transit of power, mass searches and interrogations of the Movement for Freedom’s former members began,” it said in a statement.
“The Joint Transition Cabinet of Belarus regards the regime’s actions as another attempt to put pressure on its representatives and staffers. But this attempt cannot affect the cabinet’s activities,” it added.
Hubarevič, a veteran political activists, was appointed a deputy of the cabinet’s power transition chief Pavieł Łatuška on November 14, 2022.
The Belarusian authorities shut down the Movement for Freedom on November 19, 2021.
