Up to 15,000 Belarusian troops ready to fight in Ukraine – Kyiv’s senior military official
November 24, BPN. Some 10,000-15,000 Belarusian troops are ready to participate in the war against Ukraine, Oleksiy Gromov of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff has told reporters in Kyiv.
They are primarily motivated by strong financial support, he said.
“The military leadership of Belarus has decided to extend the combat readiness check on the national Armed Forces’ units until November 28, including with groups of the Russian Armed Forces’ officers involved,” the brigadier general said (rendered from Russian).
“At the same time, we estimate that the Belarusian Armed Forces’ preparedness for an independent offensive is low, as most personnel refuse to take part in the so-called ‘special operation,’” he added.
On February 24, 2022 Russia launched a full-scale war against the Ukrainian people. The authorities in Minsk deny that the Belarusian military participates in Russia’s hostilities. At the same time, the territory of Belarus was actively used by the Russians to attack Ukraine at the outset of the invasion and in some later periods.
