January 3, BPN. The Minsk City Court will hear an appeal by convicted United Civic Party (UCP) leaders on January 31, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
In early November 2022, a district judge in Minsk sentenced UCP Chair Mikałaj Kazłoŭ to two and a half years in prison. UCP Minsk chapter head Aksana Alaksiejeva was sentenced to 18 months in prison, and a former deputy chair, Antanina Kavalova, to one year.
They were charged with participating in 2020 protests. At least 13 UCP members are behind bars.
