Belarus convicts seven would-be volunteer fighters in 2022

January 10, BPN. Courts in Belarus have convicted seven people for planning to join the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment in 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office says.

The convicts “tried to take part in combat operations in Ukraine,” it said.

The Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment was formed in Ukraine in March 2022, initially as a battalion. It consists of Belarusian enlistees.

The regime’s investigators opened a criminal case against its members.

On November 20, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ said almost 160 Belarusians fighting in Ukraine have been identified.
