Foreign ministry urges Belarusians to avoid mass gatherings amid Brazil unrest

January 11, BPN. The Belarusian foreign ministry has urged Belarusians traveling to Brazil or living there to avoid public gatherings amid unrest in the country.

People should stay alert and cautious both in cities and during trips across the country, it added.

The foreign ministry linked its advice to the high-risk situation in Brazil’s capital and the federal intervention decree to restore public safety in effect until the end of January.

Supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro stormed Brazil’s capital on January 8 after Brazil’s electoral commission had certified Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as the official winner of October’s presidential poll.
