Viciebsk region introduces fee for crossing border

January 12, BPN. The Viciebsk Regional Council of Deputies has introduced a fee a fee of one base rate (currently 37 rubels or about $14) for crossing the state border in the region.

It takes effect on February 1, says a directive published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

Belarus’ Vitebsk region borders Latvia, Lithuania and Russia. The new rule will be valid until January 1, 2025.

The fee will not apply to public officials traveling on business, foreigners arriving in Belarus at the invitation of government agencies, or allowed to enter Belarus without a visa, as well as persons traveling abroad for medical reasons.
