February 2, BPN. The Committee for State Security (KGB) has added eight people to its register of individuals and entities involved in “terrorist activity,” the Belarusian intelligence agency says on its website.
Among them are Andrej Kraŭčuk, Maksim Bas and Michał Niamcoŭ, convicted of “incitement to hatred,” as well as jailed trade unionists Alaksandr Mišuk, Arciom Žarnak and Daniił Čaŭnakoŭ. The list now also includes Dźmitryj Ivančanka and Juryj Trapačoŭ.
The KGB’s blacklist has a total of 1,011 entries. Over 25 percent of those targeted are Belarusian nationals.
Security forces often present opposition activists as terrorists in order to further intimidate them.
