Hungarian foreign minister arrives in Minsk
February 13, BPN. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó has arrived in Minsk, the Belarusian foreign ministry says. He is expected to hold talks with Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik and Economy Minister Alaksandr Čarviakoŭ.
Szijjártó said on Facebook that he arrived to “represent the position of peace” over the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He said the war in Ukraine was escalating, killing more and more people. “Human lives must be saved now, and that can only be done with peace,” he added.
He went on to say that Hungary expected all members of the international community to act fast for the sake of peace and “avoid actions that risk prolonging or escalating the war.”
“Obviously, many people will attack the visit, but our position is clear: communication channels must be kept open,” he stressed.
