Putin, Biden could negotiate Ukraine peace in Belarus – Łukašenka
February 16, BPN. If US President Joe Biden “wants peace in Ukraine,” “Minsk is ready to receive him and have a serious conversation,” Alaksandr Łukašenka told foreign journalists in Minsk on February 16.
“Even [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will fly to Minsk, and the three of us will meet here: the two ‘aggressors’ and the ‘peace-loving’ president. Why not? For the sake of stopping the war,” Łukašenka said, as quoted by his press office. “So, if he wants to stop the war (Poland is close, I could send a Boeing), we’ll receive him. We have a sea of international airports. Air Force One will land here. [Former US President Bill] Clinton used to come in a plane like that. And here, in your presence, the three of us (I can guarantee that Vladimir Putin will come) will sit and solve the whole problem. All the problems will be solved here.”
But he is convinced that Biden will not accept this offer. “He will stay in Poland, because Poland is the hyena of Europe, and it plays the most active role today in escalating the war in Ukraine,” Łukašenka said. “It screams the most, more than the Americans. So I invite you and your president to Minsk. We’ll provide complete security, comfort. And, most importantly, he will fly away satisfied.”
If Biden fails to come in Minsk, it will mean that “they want war” in the West, the Belarusian strongman said.
Russia has repeatedly struck Ukraine from Belarusian territory, where it has a growing military presence. It used Belarus as a launchpad for its February 2022 offensive on Kyiv. At the same time, Belarus says its troops are not directly involved in hostilities in Ukraine.
