Belarus to revamp national security concept

February 20, BPN. Belarus will update over 70 percent of its national security concept, Security Council head Alaksandr Valfovič has told reporters in Minsk.

“It is imperative to update the concept, which has been in place for over 12 years, because of the change in the world’s military and political situation that has happened in this timeframe, because of the struggle between West and East, […] and because of the new risks, challenges and threats that have emerged recently and impact national security, including in Belarus,” he said, as quoted by SB.by.

Alaksandr Łukašenka told a Security Council meeting that the new concept will be passed at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. The current one was adopted in 2010.
