Four shared taxi crash survivors in critical condition – health ministry
February 23, BPN. Four of nine survivors of a traffic accident near Smalavičy, Minsk region, remain in extremely serious condition, the health ministry’s press office reported.
Doctors continue fighting for their lives, it added. Three patients have multiple traumas, mostly in the abdominal area, and one has serious head injury, said Aleh Rumo, a leading Belarusian surgeon.
Five patients remain in stable condition in the intensive care unit. All suffered multiple injuries with limb fractures and head trauma.
All crash survivors were taken to state-of-the-art hospitals in Minsk.
On February 20, 11 passengers, two children among them, were killed in a two-vehicle collision in the Minsk region when a shared taxi minibus collided with a MAZ truck.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal probe into the incident. On February 22, its press office said the truck driver had been arrested.
