Łukašenka hints Xi Jinping to make major announcement on Ukraine
February 23, BPN. “Our way in Ukraine is the way of peace,” Alaksandr Łukašenka said in an interview with Chinese media in Minsk on February 23. The excerpts were published on Łukašenka’s website.
He also noted: “Some in Russia say: ‘You know, Russia was a little hasty to launch this military operation.’ And I’ll say it was inevitable. The conflict in Ukraine was inevitable. If Russia had not prevented this war from Ukraine (it is now clear who was interested in this war and who started it), had not preempted the actions of Ukraine and the entire West from Ukraine, the consequences would have been more severe.”
Łukašenka said: “I am one hundred percent convinced that the Russians are also inclined to end this conflict.”
“Everything is up to the Americans,” he said. “Take concrete steps towards peace and there will be peace. Today, China is in the middle of this knot. Once again, I suggest listening to what Xi Jinping has to say about this conflict. Very carefully, because this statement by China is a new step, an original step that will have serious consequences in the world.”
Speaking about US President Joe Biden’s February 20 visit to Kyiv, Łukašenka compared it with the downing of a Chinese surveillance balloon by the US military earlier this month: “Such a small, indecent step.”
At the same time, he said that he appreciated Joe Biden as president and his decision to visit Kyiv: “Well done. He got in and went there. He had asked Russia for permission or warned it, but he went nonetheless.”
According to Łukašenka, China “will not have a quiet life,” as it is the main rival of the United States.
