Poland waives travel ID fee for Belarusians with residence permits
March 27, BPN. Belarusians holding Polish residence permits will be able to request a Polish travel ID for foreigners free of charge, PAP reports citing Bartosz Grodecki of the Polish interior ministry.
The fee waiver is a part of the amendments to the law on foreigners that will come into force on June 1, simplifying application for Polish travel IDs for Belarusians who reside in Poland and cannot return to Belarus to renew their passports, Grodecki said.
The new rules will also apply to the children of Belarusian nationals who were born in Poland and never had a Belarusian passport, he added.
Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński waived the fee following discussions with local Belarusian leaders and opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, Grodecki said.
Currently, all applicants must pay a fee of 350 zlotys (about €75) for a Polish travel ID.
