Cichanoŭskaja calls for recognizing Łukašenka regime as fully controlled by foreign state
March 28, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has called on the West to give a tough response to Russia’s “colonialist” actions against Belarus.
“As long as Belarus remains under Russia’s control, it will be an outpost of its aggressive projects. This is unacceptable for us and for the world,” she said in the US Senate on March 28 (the quotes rendered from Russian).
“It’s time for a tough response to Russia’s hostile, colonialist actions against Belarus,” she said. Russia, she said, expanded its military and economic presence with the help of Alaksandr Łukašenka, who, in her opinion, “deserves to sit next to Putin in a tribunal for the crime of aggression.”
On March 23, Cichanoŭskaja said the resolution of the Belarusian crisis cannot be postponed because it spills over to other regions. She expressed her full support for Ukrainians, joining calls for more military aid to Ukraine.
