Ukraine scraps tourism agreement with Belarus
April 5, BPN. The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on April 4 terminated the agreement on cooperation in tourism with Belarus, said Taras Melnychuk, the Cabinet’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada.
The government also approved a bill to denounce the deal with Belarus on pension guarantees for citizens, he said on Telegram.
The agreement on cooperation in tourism was signed in Minsk on February 16, 2006. Among other things, it provided for the development of tourist exchanges “based on equal rights and mutual benefit,” the expansion of business ties “between Ukrainian and Belarusian tourist organizations,” the simplification of the border, customs and other procedures related to tourist travel, etc.
The agreement on pension guarantees, in force since December 14, 1995, regulates the pension payments to Belarusians permanently residing in Ukraine and vice versa.
