Pressure on Łukašenka’s regime discussed during opposition member’s Latvia trip

April 11, BPN. The opposition’s cabinet says its foreign secretary Valer Kavaleŭski had several official meetings and diplomatic consultations in Riga regarding stronger pressure on Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime.

“The Latvian Saeima is ready to renew active cooperation with Belarusian democrats, including via the Friends of Belarus parliamentary group,” the cabinet said on Telegram. The Saeima and the democratic forces holding joint public events is an option, it added.

Kavaleŭski and his Latvian contacts also discussed international cooperation relating to Russia’s decision to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, as well as joint action in international organizations, such as the United Nations.
