Poland extends suspension of rail passenger services with Belarus

April 17, BPN. The Polish government has extended the suspension of rail passenger services to/from Belarus until April 30, Rynek Kolejowy reports.

“The movement of passengers in rail transport crossing the Polish-Belarusian border has been suspended until April 30,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Infrastructure was quoted as saying. “For the time being, we do not know whether the ministry and the entire government will decide on one more extension.”

According to the ministry’s current timeline until mid-December 2023, there would be no trains to Hrodna, Brest, Minsk, and other Belarusian cities.

Polish rail carriers have been barred from transporting passengers to Belarus since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020.
