Industrial production up 1.8 percent in Q1
April 18, BPN. Industrial production totaled 44.2 billion rubels (some $15 billion at the current exchange rate) in the first three months of 2023, a 1.8 percent increase year on year, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said.
The mining industry posted 1.8 percent growth and processing, 2.4 percent.
Companies in the mining industry owed banks a total of 26.6 million rubels in national and foreign currency and 23.5 billion in the manufacturing industry, the National Bank said. From January, their debts grew by 6.8 percent and 1,06 percent, respectively.
Alaksandr Łukašenka stressed the “fundamental role” of industrial production for 2023 economic growth and promised state support. Belarusian companies should achieve a 10-year high, ensuring GDP growth of about four percent, he said.
