Ukraine slaps sanctions on six companies and two individuals in Belarus

July 1, BPN. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an edict has approved the National Security and Defense Council’s decision to introduce new sanctions against Moscow and Minsk, targeting two persons and six entities in the Belarusian military-industrial sector.

Kyiv imposed 10-year sanctions on:

  • senator Alaksandr Maroz, CEO of the BelOMO group of companies
  • academician Alaksiej Škadarevič, an expert on laser physics and mechanical engineering
  • Diaproektor plant
  • Zenit-BelOMO
  • Optic plant
  • Zeiss BelOMO, a German-Belarusian company

It also imposed five-year sanctions on:

  • Unmanned Helicopters construction bureau
  • the National Academy of Sciences’ Research and Production Center for Multifunctional Unmanned Systems

The sanctions include an asset freeze, a ban on technology transfer, and restrictions on or termination of trade operations. These companies won’t be able to transit goods through Ukraine, export capital, or participate in privatization.

The last time Kyiv imposed sanctions against Belarusian companies on May 27.
