Government moves to control dental care prices

July 7, BPN. Belarusian authorities will limit fees for all types of dental care on November 1, the health ministry’s press office reported citing the government’s Directive No 442 dated July 6.

The move will make private dental care more affordable to the public, it noted.

In the meantime, the ministry is reportedly updating regulations on time and materials for paid dental care and calculating “maximum marginal rates.”

Current legislation does not regulate general, surgical and orthodontic dental care except for services of dental technicians.

Public health facilities fail to deal with the problem of high prices in private healthcare, Vasil Hierasimaŭ of the State Control Committee told Alaksandr Łukašenka in late May. “Exorbitant” prices justify the introduction of price caps for dental care, he said.
