MAZ gaining ground in Russia

July 7, BPN. Belarus sold 520 new MAZ trucks in Russia last month, a 70.5 percent jump from June 2022, according to the Russian analysis agency Autostat.

It said MAZ ranked eighth among the most popular truck brands in Russia, with a 4.1 percent market share.

The top five brands were Russia’s Kamaz and China’s SITRAK, Shacman, FAW and Foton.

MAZ sold 3,064 trucks in Russia in the first half of 2023, up 51.2 percent from the same period last year.

The company is under US sanctions since March 2023. The US Department of the Treasury said that it was a major source of revenue for the regime of Alaksandr Łukašenka, and that MAZ employees were intimidated and fired for participating in peaceful protests after the 2020 presidential election.
