Biełstat: consumer prices jumped by 5.8 percent in 2023

January 10, Pozirk. Consumer prices rose by 0.9 percent in December 2023, Biełstat reported. The cost of food rose by 1.5 percent. Non-food products were up by 0.1 percent and services, by 0.8 percent.

Biełstat also reported a 5.8-percent increase in consumer prices in 2023. Food products rose in price by 6.8 percent; non-food products, by 2.9 percent; and services, by 8.1 percent.

The government projected prices and fees to rise no more than 6 percent in 2023.

On October 2, Alaksandar Łukašenka approved the key economic forecast parameters for 2024.

The government projects the gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 3.8 percent; capital expenditures, by 3.9 percent; exports of goods and services, by 7.6 percent; real income, by 3.9 percent; real disposable income, by 3.5 percent; inflation, by 6 percent or less; nominal average monthly pay, to 2,087 rubels (1,634 rubels in the public sector); and international reserves are not expected to decrease below $6 billion.
