Head of German delegation to PACE calls Cichanoŭskaja’s team government in exile

February 3, Pozirk. The head of the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Frank Schwabe, has called Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja’s team a government in exile.
“In recent years we have managed to institutionalize our relationship with the opposition, the government in exile,” Schwabe said, as quoted by the press office of the German Bundestag.
He also said representatives of various Belarusian opposition forces regularly participated in PACE committee meetings.
Schwabe is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, which is part of the ruling coalition government there.
In December 2023, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called Cichanoŭskaja the president. She was referred to as president by Oleksii Arestovych, adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, in October 2022.
