Russian-led bank refuses to finance M10 road repairs, transport minister says

February 19, Pozirk. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has refused to provide funds for repairs of the M10 highway linking Homiel and Kobryn, said Alaksej Lachnovič, minister of transportation, in an interview broadcast by Belarus 1 on February 18.

Workers began repairs at the Belarusian government’s expense, he added.

The M10 highway has been used by the Russian army to transport tanks and heavy equipment in the buildup to the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The road is said to have been damaged considerably and many drivers prefer to use roundabout routes.

The Russian-led international bank EDB was established in 2006 with headquarters in Almaty.
