Belarusian signal troops master new ways to set up communications
March 27, Pozirk. Belarusian signal troops are training new ways of setting up communications and combat application of communication centers based on “the experience of modern armed conflicts,” the defense ministry’s press office reports.
The drill is taking place from March 25 to March 29 also features tests of tactical and special personnel training.
The Belarusian Armed Forces launched the combat-readiness exercise on March 11, calling up 5,000 reservists for live-fire and other training.
The maneuvers come in response to NATO’s Steadfast Defender, a multi-domain exercise from late January to the end of May near Belarus’ borders.
Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin announced yesterday that the combat-readiness exercise will be held annually, given the geopolitical situation around Belarus and the hostile rhetoric of neighboring countries.
On the same day, Alaksandar Łukašenka inspected a tank battalion stationed in the Hrodna region’s Ašmiany district near the Lithuanian border, instructing the military and border guards to respond harshly to all border violations.
He declared that Belarus and Russia do not intend to attack Western countries.
