May 7, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja and her associate Valeryj Kavaleŭski have met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, her press office reports.
Belarus should be perceived as a reliable, peaceful and predictable partner, Cichanoŭskaja said after the meeting, noting that NATO is based on values of individual freedom, human rights, democracy and the rule of law, which are also important for Belarusians.
Stoltenberg praised Cichanoŭskaja’s “courage and leadership in standing up for democracy and human rights in Belarus,” NATO’s press office said.
The opposition leader also held a briefing for permanent representatives of all NATO members to exchange views on the political crisis in Belarus.
