Bolshevik reenactors mock neighbors at bizarre show in Hrodna

November 4, Pozirk. The Belarusian government has staged Bolshevik-style reenactment to celebrate the opening of a two-level overpass over the highway linking Hrodna and Aziary.
The show was dedicated to the Bolshevik Revolution, said the government’s press office.
The Belarusian government marks the revolution, which led to a dictatorship, by an official holiday on November 7 and has adopted authoritarian practices chillingly reminiscent of Josef Stalin’s terror.
Reenactors held a sign that said, “Clever People Build Bridges, Stupid Build Fences,” an apparent reference to neighbors’ recent efforts to beef up border security in response to a migrant crisis engineered by Belarusian authorities and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Another sign said, “Greetings to Stakhanovites from Hrodna Residents!”, a reference to the Soviet superstar miner, Aleksei Stakhanov.
After the ceremony, Prime Minister Raman Hałoŭčanka stressed the need for repairing and broadening the road linking Lepiel, Viciebsk region, and Russia. “This is a very important highway for us because of the heavy traffic bound for northeastern Russia, the Leningrad province,” he told state media journalists.
